Torah Study - Sundays
Contining discussions and new questions arising from Saturday morning's Torah study, this lay-led group meets on Zoom at the main WES link to further delve into the preceding week's parshah, with volunteer facilitators changing weekly.
The group has also been devoting the last half hour of its time each week to reading together through the books of the Nevi’im - Prophets - and Ketuvim - Writings - which follow the Pentateuch.
Zoom only; WES services link. Please contact the office us if you need information on how to join us virtually.

Torah Study
Every week, together we engage in text study of the weekly Torah portion. As a learning community, we seek to draw on our texts, honor them for what they represented in their time of creation and explore how they can be applied in our time. Led by our Rabbi, and member volunteer leaders.
This session is in person at the synagogue as well as on Zoom. Please check the weekly newsletter or contact us for Zoom access information.

In the first week of April, The Task Force on Antisemitism will present two different, but important, perspectives on Antisemitism. The second speaker, Britt Tevis, will address us as part of the Shabbat Service on April 6th.
Professor Tevis teaches at Columbia University School of Law. She has published and spoken widely on the Myth of American Exceptionlism and Antisemitism. Many Americans believe that America is different and that Antisemitism has not been sanctioned.here and is therefore rare. Professor Tevis will argue that historically laws and custom have supported Antisemitism. As we are experiencing a dramatic rise in Antisemitism, it is all the more important to put the contemporary world into historical context. Few are as well equipped to do this as Professor Britt Tevis. In person and Zoom at the usual WES services link.

HaMatmid (ZOOM ONLY)
HaMatmid meets at 2 pm every Saturday. Although it began as a way to study the books of the Tanach beyond the Torah, over the past decade we have studied many other topics. These have included how a Torah scroll is created, pre-High Holy Day workshops, deep dives into the Sh’ma and the prayers around the Sh’ma. (Online --but check.)
